THE DIRECTOR'S CUT

The Director’s Cut is a third-person mystery adventure game developed in Unreal Engine 5.

You play as a painfully amateur private investigator, and along with your room-mate must solve the murder of the controversial film director Danny Leer, who is found dead in his comically expansive mansion during a cocktail party.

A satire of the whodunnit genre, The Director’s Cut explores classic tropes of the contemporary murder mystery and mirrors current events in the film industry.

As the director of the game, I managed a small team of developers, animators, and actors, as well as contributed to various aspects of the project. These aspects included the design of gameplay and mechanics, script/screenplay, programming and implementation of features in UE5.

The Director’s Cut also utilizes motion and facial performance capture, which I worked as both an engineer and an actor for – playing the role of Scott. For more about motion capture experience click here.

This project would go on to win the Most Outstanding Creative Technologist Award in 2023.

Unfortunately, due to licensing problems within AUT's contract, The Director’s Cut is currently unable to be distributed.
